How the blow detection works
When they blow into the phone, the microphone hears the soft rushing sound of breath. Heartfolio listens only for that sound, in the browser, and nothing is recorded or sent anywhere. We tested it with recordings of everyday sounds: blowing puts the candles out, while talking, singing, music, clapping or a fan do not.
On an iPhone the cake shows “Tap here, then blow”, because iPhones need one tap before the mic can listen. If they don’t allow the mic at all, they can tap or swipe the flames instead.

Questions, answered
Does blowing really work on every phone?
It works on most Android phones and iPhones with a working microphone. On iPhone they tap once, then blow. If the mic is off, tapping or swiping the flames works too.
Is my voice recorded?
No. The sound is checked inside the phone’s browser only to detect a blow. Nothing is recorded or uploaded.
Will talking or music blow the candles out by mistake?
No. Only a real blow counts. Talking, singing, music, claps and a fan are ignored.
Which design has the cake?
The Chat Surprise birthday design ends with the cake you blow out.
